Ashes to Ashes

This is one of the four for the AtLA Mini Bang, and one of the two I've been holding out on. This one is perhaps my most sucessful when it comes to perception. Originally this was going to be in full color, but as it came out, the details just got dreerier and dreerier. So I decided, "This should be in black and white!"

But that kinda turned out boring, and the turtleducks weren't as cute, and the pond didn't have the depth I wanted, so - solution- I added a dash of color. I reeaaaaaally like how it turned out.

So, the key thing I have to explain is the tombstones. Two major details.

1. The Writing: It's Chinese characters with Japanese sentance structure. Not sure how I got there, but I kinda like it.

The one in front of Sokka says:
Ashes to Ashes
In Zuko's Memory

Next to it is:
Jasmine Dragon
In Iroh's Memory

Zuko's name is how it's written in the show -- one of the many times it's written, and I just chose the one with meaning I liked the best.

2. The Back of the Stone: So, I totally didn't notice this at first, but the inscriptions are on the back. So I wondered, "Why the fuck did I put these on the back?" For one, it's more visually appealing, and two, I decided it's because thats a more private message. The front would have the official place holder that's all official and stiff and Fire Lordy.

I don't really have a story behind this, but in the Mini Bang, it's been fully claimed, so that's 3 interpretations. I look forward to seeing how others see this
